Intel Quad-Core Intel Xeon Processor 5300 Series (BX80563E5320A/886365)
Boxed product with fan and heatsink.
Active or 1U Heatsink, 65nm Process, 1.86 GHz (80W), 8M Cache,
1066MHz, Quad-Core, 64-bit, DBS, XD-bit, VT.
The Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor 5300 series is the industry's
first quad-core processor for dual processor (DP) servers and
workstations. Built on Intel Core microarchitecture, these
processors deliver industry leading performance and virtualization,
and offer new levels of energy efficiency to help reduce cooling
and density challenges.
The Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor 5300 series is Intel's premier
solution for the growing computing and data needs of many business-
critical applications, and provides the most headroom (threads and
performance) for virtualized server environments of any dual
processor standard high volume server platform. Combined with the
Intel 5000 chipset family and Fully Buffered DIMM (FBDIMM) memory
technology, the Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor 5300 series-based
platforms are expected to deliver breakthrough performance with
better power efficiency, delivering up to 1.5 times the performance
compared to leading Dual-Core Intel Xeon processor 5100 series in
the same power envelope and up to 2.5 times the performance
compared to the best published results of AMD Opteron Model 2220.
The Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor 5300 series is compatible with
Intel 5000P, 5000V and 5000X series of chipsets. Server boards
based on these chipsets are optimized for quad core with advanced
platform features of Dual Independent Bus and Fully Buffered DIMM
memory technology offering up to 4X available bandwidth of current
generation platforms. Improved I/O performance is possible with PCI
Express and the option of Intel I/O Acceleration Technology.
